As is often said, too
much of anything is bad for the soul,
and, as with most wise advice, it's
often easier said than done. Try as
I did to steer away from language testing,
I don't seem to be able to achieve much
success.
Having worked for both the national
examination boards in the Ministry of
Education for more than 10 years as
a test builder for the English Language
Papers, and currently working for the
third major examinations board, i.e.
the University of Cambridge Local Examinations
Syndicate, I still find language testing
very interesting and challenging. There
is always continuous and abundant research
in this area, more so with the advance
of computer-assisted research, that
it's often very difficult to keep up
with developments in this area.
Besides my interest in language testing,
both oral and written, I do enjoy reading
literary texts and romance novels. Sports,
especially badminton, and leisure, especially
traveling and socialising, are some
of my favourite diversions.
