  TMr Ng Kim Huat
Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate
Workshop I
Assessing Continuous Writing: What makes a good marking scheme? What are its implications for teaching and learning?
As is often said, too much of anything is bad for the soul, and, as with most wise advice, it's often easier said than done. Try as I did to steer away from language testing, I don't seem to be able to achieve much success.

Having worked for both the national examination boards in the Ministry of Education for more than 10 years as a test builder for the English Language Papers, and currently working for the third major examinations board, i.e. the University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate, I still find language testing very interesting and challenging. There is always continuous and abundant research in this area, more so with the advance of computer-assisted research, that it's often very difficult to keep up with developments in this area.
Besides my interest in language testing, both oral and written, I do enjoy reading literary texts and romance novels. Sports, especially badminton, and leisure, especially traveling and socialising, are some of my favourite diversions.
